Update Chrome on Android
This guide will step you through the process of updating your Google Chrome web browser.
Do you need to know what version of Chrome do I have?
Depending on your settings, Android may automatically download and install Chrome updates for you.
Updating Chrome on Android
This guide will show you how to manually trigger Android to check for Chrome updates and install them if they are found.
On your Android, tap the Play Store icon
Expand the Vertical Side Menu in the Play Store
Down the bottom of the Play Store, you will see a few buttons; tap the button to expand the Side Menu (it looks like three vertical lines next to each other) to see more options.
Tap on My apps & games
When the side menu expands you will see lots of options; near the top is one called "My apps & games". Tap on it to open the list of all the Apps and Games you have installed.
Tap Update to view pending updates
You will see a list of all of your installed apps and games - it will be a list of ones which are up to date and ones which need to be updated... to save scrolling through the potentially huge list of apps that you've got, tap the Updates tab at the top to view only the apps which have pending updates.
Find Google Chrome in the list
Scroll down through the list of apps with updates until you find Chrome's entry in the list. There will be an Update button next to it.
Tap Update to update Google Chrome
The Play Store will update Chrome
The Play Store will now download and install the latest version of Google Chrome. Depending on your internet connection this may be very quick or might take a few minutes. You can speed it up by connecting to a WiFi network first.
Chrome is now updated
After the Play Store has finished installing the update you will now have the latest version of Chrome!
If you find the icon in the Apps & Games listing, you will see the button now says Open instead of Update.
If you tap Open it will launch the updated version.
