Everyone's IP Address gives strong indications of which ISP or network carrier you are using. There are different databases available on the internet which contain this information in varying degrees of accuracy.

What we detect as your ISP is a best-guess only. Sometimes the situation is that what gets detected here is actually the underlying infrastructure provider, as opposed to your actual ISP (who is utilizing the underlying infrastructure). You can use a VPN to trick websites into thinking that you are using a different Internet Service Provider. (...we're not sure why you'd want to that.. but you can!).
